How to Remove a Script From Your Cronus Zen
Removing an old Cronus Zen script is simple and can be done directly through Zen Studio. You can remove one script from a specific memory slot without deleting everything else stored on your Zen.
This is useful when you want to replace an old script, free up a memory slot or reorganize the scripts installed on your device.
How to Remove One Cronus Zen Script
Connect your Cronus Zen to your computer using the PROG USB connection and open Zen Studio.
- Open Zen Studio.
- Connect your Cronus Zen to your computer.
- Open the Programmer panel.
- Find the memory slot containing the script you want to remove.
- Drag that memory slot to the trash icon.
- Click Program Device.
- Allow Zen Studio to finish writing the updated memory slots to your Cronus Zen.
Once programming is complete, the script should no longer be stored in that memory slot.
Why You Need to Click Program Device
Removing the script from the Programmer panel changes the memory-slot configuration shown in Zen Studio, but you still need to click Program Device to write those changes to the Cronus Zen itself.
If you drag a script to the trash but do not program the device afterward, the Zen may still contain the previous memory-slot configuration.
Removing a Script vs Turning It Off
You do not always need to delete a script just because you do not want it active.
Cronus Zen can switch between its programmed memory slots, and having no script actively loaded is different from actually deleting a script from the device.
If you only want to temporarily stop using a script, switching away from its memory slot may be enough. If you want to free that slot or replace the script permanently, remove the slot through the Programmer panel.
For a more detailed explanation, read our guide to how Cronus Zen memory slots work.
How to Remove All Scripts From Your Cronus Zen
If you want to clear every programmed memory slot rather than removing one script, Zen Studio also provides an Erase Memory Slots option in the Device panel.
- Connect the Cronus Zen to your computer.
- Open Zen Studio.
- Open the Device panel.
- Locate the Erase Memory Slots option.
- Follow the prompts to clear the programmed memory slots.
This is different from deleting one individual script, so only use it when you actually want to clear all of your programmed slots.
Do You Need to Factory Reset Your Cronus Zen?
No. A factory reset is generally unnecessary if your only goal is to remove a script.
Zen Studio provides dedicated controls for deleting individual memory slots and erasing all memory slots. A factory reset also resets device options, making it a much broader action than simply removing a script.
If you are experiencing a larger device problem and actually need a full reset, see our Cronus Zen factory reset guide.
Replacing an Old Script With a New Script
If you are removing a script because you have downloaded a newer version or want to try another one, you can install the replacement after clearing the old memory slot.
Open the new GPC script in Zen Studio, add it to an available memory slot and program the device again.
For complete instructions, follow our guide to installing GPC scripts on Cronus Zen.
Keep a Copy Before Removing a Script
If you think you might want to use the script again later, keep the original GPC file somewhere on your computer before removing it from the Zen.
Deleting a script from a Cronus Zen memory slot does not need to mean deleting your original GPC file from your computer.
Script Still Showing After You Removed It?
If the old script still appears on your Cronus Zen, return to the Programmer panel and check the memory slots again.
Make sure the correct slot was cleared and that you clicked Program Device after making the change.
If you continue having problems, use the CzenScripts Cronus Zen Troubleshooting Wizard to work through common script and device issues.
Find Your Next Cronus Zen Script
Once you have cleared an old slot, you can use the CzenScripts Script Finder to find another script based on your game and preferred features.
