Inner Deadzone, Outer Deadzone and Aim Curve are three different Valorant Console controller settings.

They can all affect how the right stick feels, but they solve different problems.

This becomes especially important with a Cronus Zen GPC because some scripts also contain their own:

  • Deadzone processing
  • Response scaling
  • Sensitivity multipliers
  • Internal curve systems

The most important rule is:

Valorant deadzone ≠ Valorant Aim Curve ≠ script-side deadzone or response curve.

What Happens If Inner Deadzone Is Too Low?

If your controller has stick drift, a very small inner deadzone can allow that unwanted input to reach the game.

If someone else's controller remains perfectly centered at a low value, that does not mean your controller will.

Should You Change Outer Deadzone?

Usually, there is less reason to change outer deadzone than inner deadzone.

For a clean Valorant Console setup:

  1. Keep Outer Deadzone at your known working/default value.
  2. Reduce Inner Deadzone only until small movement feels responsive.

Valorant Console Aim Curves Changed After Launch

Riot has continued updating the console Aim Curve system.

Patch 9.07 added new text and visual descriptions for the available Aim Curve options.

The same update also combined the previous Smooth and Standard curves.

Players who had Smooth selected were moved to Standard.

Why Older Valorant Guides Can Be Outdated

A sensitivity change is not the only way to alter small-stick response.

Acid Aim+ V2 Has Its Own Deadzone Settings

Acid Aim+ V2 is a useful example.

The current Valorant GPC contains separate script-side options called:

Your Valorant controller settings should make sense even before advanced GPC processing is added.

If basic manual stick movement already feels wrong, adding another curve or sensitivity layer can make diagnosis harder.

How to Test Inner Deadzone

  1. Enter Valorant's practice environment.
  2. Leave the right stick centered.
  3. Watch for unwanted camera movement.
  4. Make very small intentional stick inputs.
  5. Adjust only the Inner Deadzone.
  6. Retest.

Your goal is stable center input without making small intentional movement feel unnecessarily delayed.

How to Test Outer Deadzone

Outer Deadzone should be tested separately.

  1. Keep Inner Deadzone unchanged.
  2. Move the right stick through its full range.
  3. Check whether full turning input feels consistent.
  4. Only adjust Outer Deadzone if you have a specific full-input problem.

How to Test Aim Curve

  1. Keep deadzones unchanged.
  2. Choose one Aim Curve.
  3. Make small stick movements.
  4. Make medium stick movements.
  5. Make full turns.
  6. Repeat using the same sensitivity.

This allows you to feel the curve itself rather than confusing it with another setting change.

Use Riot's Visual Curve Descriptions

Riot specifically added visual Aim Curve descriptions to Valorant Console.

Use those graphs to understand whether a curve applies:

  • More response early
  • More gradual response early
  • A more direct ramp

rather than selecting a curve purely because another player uses it.

Why Your PS5 and Xbox Settings May Differ

Even when the game settings are identical, different controllers can have different:

  • Stick tension
  • Center accuracy
  • Wear

  • Physical maximum travel

Does a New Controller Need the Same Deadzone?

The current Acid Aim+ V2 GPC, for example, uses its own internal Deadzone Left and Deadzone Right fields.

Those are separate from Valorant Console's game-side deadzone controls.

Should Script Curve Match Valorant Aim Curve?

Again, not automatically.

“Linear” or “Smooth” can describe a script developer's own mathematical transformation.

The label alone does not prove it maps directly to Riot's Aim Curve system.

What About Valorant Aimbot?

Valorant Aimbot contains its own internal stick-coordinate calculations.

However, the current source does not expose the same user-facing Deadzone Left / Deadzone Right / Sensitivity Curve menu structure found in Acid Aim+ V2.

This demonstrates why setup instructions should be script-specific.

What About Valorant V5?

The current project archive also contains a Valorant V5 GPC.

Its source includes:

  • Stick Deadzone
  • Low Sensitivity percentage
  • High Sensitivity percentage
  • Polar / Linear internal aim-target logic

Again, these are GPC-side controls and should not be confused with Riot's own controller menu.

Common Deadzone Mistakes

Using a Huge Inner Deadzone to Fix Sensitivity

Inner Deadzone should primarily solve center-stick behavior.

It is not a replacement for choosing an appropriate sensitivity or Aim Curve.

Reducing Inner Deadzone Until the Stick Drifts

The smallest possible number is not automatically the best number.

Changing Outer Deadzone Without a Reason

If maximum stick input already behaves correctly, leave the outer setting stable.
