Before you begin

Start with the recommended baseline, change one value at a time, and test each adjustment under consistent conditions.

Fortnite Cronus Zen Script Settings for Shotguns vs SMGs

Shotguns and SMGs are both important at close range in Fortnite, but they require very different aiming styles.

A shotgun normally relies on short, precise movements and individual shots. An SMG requires sustained tracking while continuously firing.

Because of this, using exactly the same Cronus Zen script settings for both weapon types may not give you the most consistent results.

If you are new to configuring your Zen, start with our How to Set Up Cronus Zen for Fortnite guide.

Fortnite Shotgun Cronus Zen Settings

For shotguns, the priority should generally be controlled and predictable aim movement.

You are normally making a quick adjustment onto an opponent before firing rather than continuously tracking them for several seconds.

Useful areas to focus on include:

  • Moderate aim-assist strength

  • Controlled aim-assist radius

  • Smooth ADS behaviour

  • Minimal unnecessary reticle movement

  • Fast weapon switching

  • Stable close-range stick response

Using extremely aggressive aim-assist movement can sometimes make it harder to line up a single shotgun shot because the reticle may move more than you expect.

Start with moderate values and gradually increase them while testing.

Fortnite SMG Cronus Zen Settings

SMGs depend much more heavily on sustained tracking.

When firing an SMG, your reticle needs to remain on a moving opponent throughout the burst.

For that reason, an SMG profile can usually place more emphasis on:

  • Tracking-focused aim assist

  • Smooth rotational movement

  • Consistent close-range stick input

  • Recoil control where supported

  • Faster aim-assist response

  • Stable movement while strafing

If your Fortnite Cronus Zen script includes different aim-assist modes, an option designed for tracking may feel more suitable for an SMG than a setting built around small precision movements.

Shotgun vs SMG Settings

Setting Shotgun SMG
Aim Assist Strength Moderate Moderate–Higher
Tracking Focus Low–Moderate High
Aim Movement Controlled More responsive
Anti-Recoil Minimal More useful
Precision Focus High Medium
Sustained Tracking Lower priority High priority
Separate Profile Recommended Recommended

These should be treated as relative starting points rather than exact numerical settings.

Different Fortnite Cronus Zen scripts can use completely different scales, calculations and aim-assist methods.

A setting of 15 in one script may behave very differently from a setting of 15 in another.

Don't Use Maximum Aim Assist Automatically

More aim-assist movement does not always mean better performance.

Increasing radius, speed or strength too far can make your reticle feel unstable, especially when using a shotgun.

For shotguns, excessive movement can interfere with precise adjustments immediately before firing.

For SMGs, slightly stronger tracking settings may be more useful because you are following a moving opponent during sustained fire.

Response Curve Changes How a Script Feels

Your Fortnite response curve also affects how script-generated stick movements interact with your normal aiming.

Linear settings typically provide a more immediate response to stick movement, while Exponential changes how input builds as the stick moves farther from centre.

Because Cronus Zen scripts work through controller inputs, changing your response curve without retuning your script can make the same values feel noticeably different.

Create Separate Weapon Profiles

If your script supports multiple profiles, using separate shotgun and SMG configurations can make tuning much easier.

For example:

Profile 1: Shotgun
Profile 2: SMG
Profile 3: Assault Rifle
Profile 4: Experimental or alternative settings

Your shotgun profile could prioritize controlled aim movement, while the SMG profile could use stronger tracking-oriented settings.

This prevents you from having to constantly compromise between two very different weapon types.

Test One Setting at a Time

Avoid changing every script option at once.

Instead:

  1. Start with your current in-game sensitivity and response curve.

  2. Test your shotgun profile.

  3. Adjust one aim-assist setting.

  4. Test again.

  5. Save the setting once it feels consistent.

  6. Repeat the process for your SMG profile.

This makes it much easier to understand what each setting actually changes.

Build Mode vs Zero Build

Your ideal settings may also depend on how you play Fortnite.

Build Mode can involve extremely fast transitions between building, editing, weapon switching and aiming.

Zero Build generally places greater emphasis on traditional gunfights and sustained tracking.

That means an SMG-focused setup may benefit from somewhat different tuning depending on the mode you primarily play.

Finding the Right Fortnite Script

Different scripts provide different combinations of aim-assist modes, tracking features, weapon profiles and configuration options.

Instead of choosing based only on the script name, compare the features available and consider how easily the script lets you create different configurations for your weapons.

Final Thoughts

Shotguns and SMGs may both be close-range weapons, but they should not necessarily use identical Cronus Zen script settings.

Shotguns generally benefit from controlled, precise aim movement, while SMGs rely more heavily on sustained tracking and recoil management.

Create separate profiles when your script supports them, tune one setting at a time and test each weapon individually.
