Apex Legends Classic vs Linear Response Curve for Cronus Zen Scripts

Classic and Linear can make an Apex Legends Cronus Zen script feel noticeably different. Here is what each response curve does and what to check when setting up your script.

Apex Legends Classic vs Linear Response Curve for Cronus Zen Scripts
Before you begin

Start with the recommended baseline, change one value at a time, and test each adjustment under consistent conditions.

If an Apex Legends Cronus Zen script feels different from another player's setup, your response curve may be one of the reasons. Two of the most commonly used Apex Legends controller options are Classic and Linear.

Neither setting is automatically the best choice for every player. The important part is understanding how each curve changes your stick input and making sure your Apex Legends Cronus Zen script is configured around the settings you actually use.

Classic vs Linear: Quick Comparison

Setting Classic Linear
Stick Response More gradual More direct
Small Stick Movements Smoother and steadier More immediate
General Feel Controlled Responsive
Stick Drift Can be less noticeable Can be more noticeable
Good Starting Point Players wanting stability Players wanting direct input

What Is the Classic Response Curve?

Classic is the default Apex Legends response curve. It applies a more gradual response to your stick movement, which can make small movements feel steadier and less sensitive.

This can be useful if you prefer controlled aiming or simply want an easier baseline while configuring a new script.

For newer players, Classic is also a sensible place to begin because you can tune the rest of your controller and script settings around a relatively predictable response.

What Is the Linear Response Curve?

Linear provides a more direct relationship between your stick movement and the game's response. Small movements can therefore feel more immediate than they do on Classic.

This can make Linear feel highly responsive, particularly for players who make frequent small corrections while tracking targets.

The downside is that controller imperfections such as stick drift can become easier to notice, so your deadzone settings become especially important.

How Response Curve Affects Cronus Zen Scripts

A Cronus Zen script processes controller inputs, so changing the way Apex Legends interprets those inputs can change how the overall setup feels.

For example, a script tuned while you are using Classic may not feel identical after switching the game to Linear, even when the script values themselves have not changed.

This is why you should avoid copying someone else's script settings without also checking their:

  • Response Curve
  • Look Sensitivity
  • ADS Sensitivity
  • Deadzone
  • Controller layout
  • Per-optic settings

For a deeper explanation, read our guide to how response curve settings affect Cronus Zen scripts.

Classic May Be Better If...

Classic may suit your setup if you prefer:

  • A steadier feeling around the centre of the stick
  • More gradual aim movement
  • A forgiving starting point for script tuning
  • Less sensitivity to tiny controller movements

It can also make sense when you have just installed a new script and want to establish a controlled baseline before changing more advanced settings.

Linear May Be Better If...

Linear may suit your setup if you prefer:

  • More immediate stick response
  • Direct control over small aim corrections
  • A faster-feeling controller setup
  • Fine manual tracking adjustments

Because Linear reacts more directly to stick input, carefully check your deadzone if you notice unwanted movement while your right stick is centred.

Does Your Cronus Zen Script Need to Match the Response Curve?

If your script includes a response curve setting, use the option that corresponds with the response curve you are actually using in Apex Legends.

Some advanced Apex Legends scripts include extensive controller configuration directly inside their OLED menus. For example, scripts such as Panda APX V5.3 include response-curve, sensitivity and deadzone configuration alongside their other settings.

Keeping these settings consistent gives you a much cleaner starting point when testing the rest of the script.

Don't Change Response Curve and Script Values Together

One of the easiest ways to make tuning confusing is changing too many settings at once.

If you want to compare Classic and Linear:

  1. Keep your script values unchanged.
  2. Test your current response curve in the Apex Legends Firing Range.
  3. Switch to the other curve.
  4. Test the same movements and weapons again.
  5. Choose the response curve you prefer.
  6. Only then begin adjusting script values.

Our guide to testing a new Apex Legends Cronus Zen script covers this kind of controlled testing in more detail.

Remember Your Deadzone

Response curve and deadzone work closely together. A very responsive setup can make small amounts of stick drift more apparent, while increasing your deadzone filters out more of the stick's smallest movements.

Don't automatically copy the lowest possible deadzone. Use the smallest setting that still keeps your controller stable when you aren't touching the stick.

What About Sensitivity?

Your Look and ADS sensitivity also affect how Classic and Linear feel.

A response curve should therefore be considered as part of your complete controller configuration rather than as an isolated setting. If you change from Classic to Linear, spend some time testing your existing sensitivity before deciding that it also needs to be changed.

Which Response Curve Is Best for Apex Legends Cronus Zen Scripts?

There is no universal winner.

Classic is the easier starting point if you want a smoother, steadier controller response. Linear is worth trying if you want more direct stick input and prefer making small manual corrections yourself.

The most important rule for Cronus Zen users is consistency: choose the response curve you prefer, configure your script accordingly where applicable, and then tune the remaining values around that setup.
